PRECIOUS GEMS
Color,
clarity and rarity make a stone to be called as ‘Precious Gem’. There are many
debates and arguments about the ‘Precious Gems’ in terms of their type and
kinds. As per the holy Bible there are several ‘Precious Stones’, namely;
Agate, Amethyst, Beryl, Carbuncle, Carnelian, Chalcedony, Chodchod, Chrysolite,
Chrsophrasus, Coral, Crystal, Diamond, Emerald, Hyacinth, Jasper, Ligurus,
Onyx, Sardonyx, Pearl, Ruby, Sapphire and Topaz. However, the modern
International Jewelry Industry defines only four Gemstones to fall under the
category of ‘Precious Gems’. They are Diamond, Emerald, Ruby and Sapphire. We
will discuss about these four major ‘Precious Gems’ starting with Diamond.
Diamonds
are said to be the girl’s best friend and believe it or not they are crazy
about the Diamond Jewelry and collect them as much as they can. Diamond is the
hardest mineral known as of today and is primarily rich in carbon. Diamond is
also graded according to the cut, color, clarity and carat to be sold in the market.
The trade of Diamond is done on international level in loose and jewelry forms.
Loose diamonds are further categorized into rough and finished diamonds. The
rough diamonds may prove to be risky purchase as it may loose its value in the
finishing process and may break of prove to be of lesser value then expected.
Hence, the trading of finished diamonds and diamonds jewelry is done popularly
across the globe.
