Marble:

Marble is a metamorphic rock composed by carbonate, calcite and dolomiteminerals.  The word "marble"derives from the Greek ‘mármaron’ meaning, "crystalline rock" andshining stone. Marble forms by heat and pressure in earth crust. Marble is most popular mineral. Widely used for building, monuments, and sculptures. Purewhite marble is most valued. It occurs from polymorphism of limestone. Marbleis made from a combination of sand, soda lime, silica. Marble raw materialconsists of aluminum hydrate to zinc oxide. Marble raw is granular limestone ordolomite. Marble rock composed of calcium-magnesium carbonate, with the highpressure and heat rock recrystallized.

Hardness- 3 to 4 on Moh’s scale 

Density- 2.55 to 2.7 Kg/ cm³

Comprehensive strength- 70 to 140 N/mm²

Porosity- Low

Water absorption- less than 0.5%
